New 'Alice In Wonderland' Journal On Etsy!

Hi again!

Hope you're having a good week with much awesomeness! This is the first of a few updates on items available in my Etsy store. I've been working really hard over the past couple of weeks on various projects and I FINALLY have some finished products (YAY!) - some for commissions, some for Etsy and some heading off to the printers....more on that at a later date!

This is my Alice in Wonderland travel/art journal:

I'm really happy with it. Its partner has been sold already so only this one can go up on Etsy. It measures 20.5cm tall, 10cm wide and 4.5cm deep. The cover is made from upcycled sturdy cardboard - you know how I love to recycle whenever possible - covered in designer papers with collaged images from the Graphic 45 'Halloween In Wonderland' and 'Communique' collections.

The book is pamphlet stitched and the spine is woven with over 100 beads - I wanted to represent the fantastical gardens of Wonderland in a tumbling cascade, like Alice's fall into the amazing world of imagination and magic.

I chose a mix of art papers for the 7 individual signatures inside the book:

* 2 x sketch paper (16 pages/32 sides each),
* 2 x 200gsm/90lb cold-pressed watercolour paper (6 pages/12 sides each),
* 1 x 'dessin a grain' 180gsm/83lb grained drawing paper (10 pages/20 sides),
* 1 x parchment effect paper (12 pages/24 sides),
* 1 x designer patterned paper (12pages/24 sides).

 I had in mind the idea of a travel art journal, and tried to include papers that would be perfect for this concept.  I added a colour tint to the long edge of each paper - I get asked a lot to do this as it really adds something special to the look of the book.

The inside covers of the book have collaged images to complement the exterior design:

I added some inking to bring out the texture of the card (which I especially like to do) and also some gold gilding wax to add a fantasy vintage look.

This is a GORGEOUS journal - I nearly kept it! It feels so lovely to hold and looks stunning when it's displayed on a shelf. Imagine how amazing it will be when it's filled with lovely journaling and photos and artwork? How stunning will that be?! A really lovely keepsake.

Please visit my Etsy store and take a look at the goodies there. I'm grateful for any sale as my art is my main source of income now so I hope you find something you'll like. Click the Etsy logo below to go straight to the auction. Thanks for reading - hugs as always, Shroo :) xxx
